Predictions

production: Land Art Live Cleveland

A site-specific performance, specially designed for Robert Morris’ Observatory – a famous land art work near Lelystad. The function of a “cosmic compass” intended in Morris’ work serves as a starting point - our focus diverts however from the movements of the sun and the planets. Instead we observe the site’s immediate environment: a steady flow of trains, trucks, cars and bicycles forming ever changing constellations. As patterns emerge and establish, a series of predictions result in a scenario where daily chance and a perhaps grander scheme intersect. The script is enacted by 12 performers, 4 vehicles, 1 helicopter and a motorcycle gang. Audience is situated on one of the hills of the Observatory about 100 meters from the action. They can hear the predictions through individual headphones, while observing which of them come true and which don’t.
